TRL Juniors Competitions – FAQs

It's just my child, will you put them in a team?

Yes, absolutely! Register for your child’s age range and we will put them in a team.

How do I know what team my child is in?

Before the season commences, and once we have received all registrations, we will be in touch with your child’s team.

When can I join and when does it finish?

You can join at any time pro rata $10 [e.g. $65 if you join in week 2, $55 if you join in week 3 etc]. TRL Juniors runs in term time and does not run during school holidays unless otherwise advised.

My child wants to play with their friend/s, can they be on the same team?

The best way to ensure they’re together is to register as a team. However, if you do not have enough players, please register as an individual and email us with your request. We will do our best to ensure they are placed in the same team.

What happens once I have registered my child?

You will receive a Registration welcome email confirming what you have signed up for [this will include the start and finish dates of TRL Juniors]. Please read this email carefully. If you have received this email it means your child is able to participate in the program.

    Is the uniform/merchandise compulsory?

No, it’s not compulsory but if you are interested in purchasing, please make sure you do this during registration.

If you have ordered merchandise, you will receive this at the fields, when the season commences.

What does my child need to bring?

Hat, wattle bottle, sunscreen, appropriate playing attire and enclosed shoes [Rugby League boots can be worn, but are not a mandatory requirement – if boots are to be worn, studs are not permitted].

    Will there be any tackling?

There will be no tackling in TRL Juniors. We are a non-contact, safe and inclusive sport for children.

Is there training as well as games?

Yes – each week the kids will train for 15-20 minutes and then play one TRL game.

Do they have to know how to play TRL or a format of Touch Football before commencing?

No, it is a social competition and they will learn from the TRL Juniors staff, and their peers, as the season progresses.

Can the children train outside of regular game/training?

Yes, absolutely! If the kids are keen to come early or stay late to train, you can certainly organise that amongst yourselves. We suggest exchanging details with other parents via WhatsApp or similar platforms to stay in touch.

How do I register multiple children? Is there a sibling discount?

To register multiple children, you will need to submit a registration form for each child. We offer $20.00 cashback for sibling registrations. This discount is a manual process – once you have registered, please reply to your confirmation email letting us know that you’ve registered multiple children and we can apply the cashback for you.

    What time does it finish?

Until we know how many teams are going to be participating, and the draw has been constructed, we cannot give an exact start and finish time. You will know your child’s game time each week.

What happens in the event of wet weather?

In the event of wet weather, the x6 week block of sessions will be extended where possible, subject to field availability.

What happens if my child misses a week?

Due to the nature of the scheduled season, we are unable to apply session credits or refunds for a missed session.

    Is there insurance?

Yes – we have both Public Liability and Personal Accident Insurance, please email office@trljuniors.com.au if you wish to source our Certificate of Currency.

Do Coaches have First Aid & a Blue Card?

Yes – all TRL Juniors Coaches have current First Aid, CPR & Working With Children Accreditations. It is important to note however that all children must still have parental supervision when attending each session.
